Pilot your starglider on a 'road' through space, avoiding obstacles and holes along the way, and without running out of fuel or oxygen. Full version includes 30 roads in 10 areas. This game lives in the hearts of all of us who went to the same school a long time ago:-) (Playing it was all we did instead of paying attention).
Your goal is to fly (or should I say 'drive' since it actually cannot fly) a small spaceship (guess) without crashing it or falling off a 'star track'. Once you reach the end, you have completed the objective and you are ready to start with another one (you can choose a track of any level of difficulty anytime, however, you probably won't finish the more difficult ones without practicing with the easier ones first). No brainwork required. Navigation is simple: space bar and arrow keys are enough to do everything. Graphics looks good considering the disk space it occupies. It is quite addictive and some levels were pretty frustrating:). This is the first 'space racing' games I've ever played, but absolutely not the only one.
Still, you can see that there has been alot of thinking involved in making this game. Your car can 'drive' and jump around and the track you're on influences the way you're driving, it can refuel you, it can make you go faster, it can make you go slower, it can make you explode and more things like that. You will have to watch out, so that you don't fall off the track.
The galaxy you're in also influences the way you're driving, some have less gravity and you will be able to jump higher. Some have more gravity and so on. It's a nice game to play and it is really worth replaying a couple of times, so go on! Grab this one!
Well when I first saw this game up for download, and saw the 600kb or so download size and the fact that I have never heard of the company that distributed or made the game, I thought it was going to be a wasted download and a waste of my time just unzipping the archive! But after I unzipped it and started the game, the first thing you see is a kind of nice looking merging of the word 'skyroads' and the cool sound of the ship going off into the distance. To put it simply, the game is quite basic, there's no plot because it's just an arcade game. As far as I know there are no enemy's to destroy, all you really have to do is in your ship, you fly a short distance above some sort of thing in the air, and you have go stay above it or you'll fly off into space and die, you also have to avoid obstacles by jumping them or going around them or you'll just end up blowing up!

The free games usually supplied by MS are not appearing in Games Explorer. I also checked under C: Program Files and C: Program Files (x86) subdirectories for a Microsoft Games directory but couldn't find any.

Maybe these are 32-bit apps and not included in 64-bit Professional installation? Any ideas on doing some 'mini-installation' or 'repair' from 64-bit CD to get the games installed? And I'm worried about what else didn't get installed.groan. Thanks, Stanley. Edit: Don't you hate people that post a question and then find the answer using the search feature CAREFULLY.I know I do.anyway I dug deeper and found the answer: Needs to be turned on as a Windows feature.
